Step 2: Open the Media Menu
Once VLC is open, click on «Media» in the top menu bar.

Step 3: Select «Convert / Save»
From the dropdown menu, click on «Convert / Save…» This will open a new dialog box.

Step 4: Add Your Video File
In the «Open Media» dialog, click the «Add…» button. Browse your computer to find the video file you want to convert and select it. Then click «Convert / Save» at the bottom of the dialog.

Step 5: Choose the Output Format
In the «Convert» dialog, under «Profile,» select the format you want to convert to (e.g., «Video ⎻ H.264 + MP3 (MP4)»).

Step 6: Set the Destination File
Click the «Browse» button next to «Destination file» to choose where you want to save the new file and what to name it. Click «Save» when you’re done.

Step 7: Start the Conversion
Click the «Start» button. VLC will now begin converting your video. You can see the progress in the timeline at the bottom of the window.

Step 8: Find Your Converted File
Once the conversion is complete, you can find your new video file in the location you selected in Step 6.
